Celebrating 5 Years: The Shift That Took Me from Burnout and Inconsistency to Predictable Profits
Mar 24, 2025
🎉 Celebrating 5 Years as a Digital Business Owner!
This month it has been 5 years since launching Banish Business Clutter! #cuetheconfetti
Five years ago, I took a leap that felt more like a free fall.
I left a steady corporate job not knowing that a global pandemic was just around the corner. I had no guaranteed paycheck, no safety net, and no idea what the future would look like. But I knew in my heart… it was time.
And now? The day before my 5th anniversary...
I crossed a milestone that still doesn’t feel real.
💥 $1,000,000 in total revenue.
One. Million. Dollars.
With a 68% profit margin.
Built slowly, intentionally, and imperfectly… over time.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around that.
When I first started, I thought “If I could just make $100K a year, that would mean I’d made it.” That felt like the ultimate dream—because I’d never done that before.
And now… $1M in five years? I couldn’t have imagined it back then.
But, it's not about the number. It's about what that number has made possible:
✨ Retiring my husband from his 30-year career
✨ Giving my daughter the wedding of her dreams
✨ Moving to Florida to be near my daughter and grandbaby
✨ Homeschooling our son while running a business I love
✨ Having the freedom to build a life aligned with my values
✨ And most importantly, impacting the lives of the people I’ve had the privilege to serve
You can’t put a price tag on any of that.
But this post is about what changed—and how I went from launch burnout and unpredictable income to consistent $30K+ months and a business that supports my life.
🎢 The Early Years: Feast or Famine
My first three years in business, live launching was everything.
And truthfully? It worked.
Those launches:
- Introduced me to new people
- Built trust with my audience
- Taught me what people actually wanted
- Gave me the momentum I needed to get my business off the ground
4-day challenge launches played a huge role in building my audience and generating revenue.
They still work today—and I teach my exact process inside Challenge Launch Bootcamp.
But here’s the part I don’t want to gloss over…
Live launching also meant I was constantly riding the feast-or-famine roller coaster.
Each launch felt like it had to be a “make or break” moment, because I knew it needed to sustain me for the next 3–4 months. And the pressure of that over time?
It’s exhausting.
🔁 The Shift to Recurring Revenue
Toward the end of 2022, I knew what I was doing was not sustainable. I asked myself:
“What would it look like to build a business with sustainable and predictable profits?”
And that one question changed everything.
I began leaning into recurring revenue, intentionally and strategically.
- I launched my Ignite membership with 47 founding members
- I focused on nurturing those members and building a strong community
- I now serve over 150 members, and this one offer alone generates six figures per year
For the first time, I wasn’t starting the month at zero. 🙌
I also began focusing more intentionally on affiliate marketing, sharing tools, programs, and resources I genuinely use and love.
It started small… but now makes up more than 30% of my annual revenue.
These recurring and scalable offers have allowed me to shift my focus from short-term spikes to long-term sustainability.
These Last 6 Months I Did Less but Earned More
Here’s the surprising part…
In the last 6 months, I’ve earned over $180K with:
❌ No live launches
❌ No constant posting on social media
❌ Minimal emails (outside of Black Friday and my 12 Days of Christmas promo)
So… how did I do it?
✅ I created offers my audience actually wanted
✅ I refined those offers to deliver recurring value
✅ I focused on serving my clients and members more deeply
✅ I built a business model that supports my lifestyle—not someone else’s idea of hustle
Building the Right Offer Matters
To be clear: I still believe in launching.
In fact, launching my courses and live cohorts is what put me on the map.
It’s how I discovered:
- What kind of content I love creating
- How I best connect with my audience
- Which offers are worth scaling
- What my audience values enough to pay for
You have to launch to learn.
You have to create offers to make money.
Live launching is necessary when you're just getting started because it:
- Builds trust and connection
- Gives you real-time feedback
- Helps you validate your ideas
- Gets your business generating revenue fast
But if you want long-term sustainability, the key is designing offers that don’t just sell once, but they serve again and again.
That’s why going all-in on my membership was a game-changer.
It’s allowed me to:
- Show up live in real time without needing to re-record outdated content
- Serve a growing, loyal community month after month
- Focus more on transformation, not just transaction
The Takeaway: Build for Sustainability
The biggest lesson I’ve learned after 5 years in business?
You don’t have to do all the things.
You don’t have to be on every platform.
You don’t have to post daily to be profitable.
What you do need are intentional, aligned offers that solve real problems, consistently.
If you’re tired of chasing likes and still starting the month at zero…
If you’re stuck in the launch-feast-famine cycle…
If you’re creating content but not creating income…
Then it’s time for a new path.
